Politico Europe seeks a food and agriculture reporter

Politico is looking for a reporter that covers one of the most colorful and controversial topics in Europe: food and agriculture policy.

Food and agriculture underlies some of the greatest EU collisions. From the protest rally in general Europe over the competition of imports over the dispute over new foodstuffs and subsequent reform of extensive general agricultural policy, this blow gives the opportunity to overcome the news about some of the biggest stories in Europe.

We are looking for a reporter that can lead to lighting from the use of fertilizers and food marking to food security and supporting block farmers.

A successful candidate will have eyes on the details and results of strict reporting, construction of sources and scoops. They will be a team player, with a good understanding of how politics is pursued, and the demonstrated ability to develop

sources in the EU, governments, industry organizations and interests involved in politics.

This is a full role based in our editorial board of Brussels.

What you will do

  • Show news as part of a team that covers food and agriculture for both Politico Pro, our subscription service, and a wider reader
  • Joint author of the mandatory reading of the morning newsletter for subscribers
  • Deliver longer readings that are referred outside the specialized audience
  • Create a wide network of sources
  • Co -work closely with colleagues covering trade, healthcare, climate and other blows
  • Be a public face politico on events and panels on topics related to your bite

What you need

  • At least three years of editorial experience
  • Demonstrative interest in nutrition and agriculture
  • Strong records of news violation
  • Strong attention to detail and are not afraid to dig into politics in some depth
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Other European languages ​​are a strong plus
